How do you get into the waterproofing business? Well, in Doug Doggett’s case, it starts with meeting a basic need. Working for Doggett Concrete, Doug was using AlphaOmega for waterproofing on poured in place concrete walls. When AlphaOmega decided to cease operations in 1988, Doug bought their truck and the story of Moisture Loc began.

In the early days, Doug did it all from selling to applying the waterproofing to site cleanup. The Moisture Loc family grew fueled by the surge in new construction in the Charlotte region. Then, in 1993, while completing the rare homeowner project, Doug’s met his future wife. 30+ years later, that remains the best project Doug has ever worked on.

Over the next decade, consumer demand for crawl space and basement waterproofing began to steadily increase as homeowners became increasingly concerned about mold growth in their vented crawl spaces. Then, in 2008, the Department of Energy released a report that concluded homes with enclosed crawl spaces were substantially drier than traditional vented crawl spaces and could save an average of 15% on home heating and cooling costs. Moisture Loc officially expanded into the consumer market.

As Doug’s other businesses, Doggett Concrete and Concrete & Materials Placement, continued to grow, he needed to groom someone to lead Moisture Loc. In steps nephew Greg Doggett.

Coming from a completely different industry, Greg took the same path as Doug, spending nearly 5 years selling, servicing and doing all the dirty work in order to learn all aspects of the business. And it’s not a business for the faint of heart. Greg has encountered angry snakes, been cornered by a feral cat, and run over by scared gophers trying to escape but he’s never been bitten by a dog.

Now with nearly 10 years experience, Greg has been leading the entire team and the Moisture Loc business is thriving and has continued to improve in all aspects of service, firmly establishing itself as a culture driven, truly family owned and led company placing a premium on customer satisfaction.
